Newfoundland & Labrador

Registration Fee

In Newfoundland and Labrador, homebuyers pay a registration fee rather than a land transfer tax.

The cost is $100 plus 0.4% of the mortgage amount exceeding $500, as outlined in the Registration of Deeds Act (2009).

Though there’s no rebate for first-time buyers, Newfoundland’s closing costs remain relatively modest — leaving more room in your budget for settling into your new home.
